YRC's annual event at Oakwell Hall  June 8th 2025

Oakwell Hall.jpg

Oakwell Hall is a Grade I Listed Elizabethan manor house, furnished as a family home of the 1690s, complete with its own mysterious ghost. Oakwell Hall was also visited by Charlotte        Bronte in the 1830s and it was immortalised as 'Fieldhead' in her 1849 novel 'Shirley'.

Following our visit to Longships and Octagon's Drive It Day        at Ambergate on April 27th, Sue and I took the 600 to

"The Sandringham Pageant of Motoring" on May 25th.
We were in distinguished company including

a display of 97 Aston Martins.
My 600 was one of only 4 Rovers on show
                one P5B,  a P6 and a superb Rover 10
We were shadowed by a superb Bentley Continental all day!

Greetings from Yorkshire!

The P5 (pictured below) is a true rarity, being built four years before my 1964 P4! Built in 1960 has just 36k miles on the clock, never welded etc and is simply stunning. Is one of the first P5s? The instruments suggest so as they are of the type fitted to the P4 100s along with the time associated misting of the dials.

National Classic Car Show NEC by Anthony Dennis

Sue and I had a splendid weekend staying 2 nights in a converted stable at Deer Park Farm,                               Knowle (Solihull) and using taxis to get through the NEC traffic.

The sheer volume of exhibitors and visitors meant plotting a route through the 8 halls.                                                  We managed to see each of the 8 Rover Club stands.

However, particularly pleasing to us members of the Rover 600 Club was the news that the               600/800 club is now officially renamed  The Rover 600 and 800 Owners Club.

Well done Tania and team !

YRC attended a new show and venue near Leeds this year on August 31st (2025).

A joint effort between Wetherby and Leeds MG Owners car clubs.

This was well organized, men in hi viz jackets directing participants from the A63,

into the venue and efficiently marshalling cars on site etc.

Excellent on site facilities provided by the Milk Churn Café and mobile burger van.                                       Much to see and great day out, see below

                                    And Finally!

Crow Nest Park Show in Dewsbury Sunday 5th Oct 2025

This is always a well attended show, as it is the last one of the season, for most classic car owners. It could however of been a complete disaster because the weather on the 2 preceding days was really quite awful with the rain and the wind. Things didn't look good, but luck was on our side and we couldn't of wished for a better day for what turned out to be a very good end of season show.

I think the attendance was understandably a bit lower than usual, but nevertheless there was a great collection of classic cars on show. As for the YRC out of a possible 20 members who said they wanted to attend 13 went along and we had a really good display of Rovers on our club stand, which consisted of 1 Rover P2, 3 Rover P4s, 3 Rover P5Bs and 6 Rover P6s.
